Knit a Puff Stool
I’m perfectly willing to admit that if you put a pair of knitting needles in my hands I’m more likely to put out an eye than to create something I’d be proud to display as part of my home decor. I’m a whiz when it comes to crocheting, but its sophisticated-older-sister discipline has always eluded me. That usually doesn’t bother me, but every once in a while I come across a knitting project that makes me curse my inabilities.
Norwegian fiber artists and designers Heidi and Anna of Pickles were inspired by Christien Meinderstma’s Urchin Pouf stools, which come in three sizes and cost between about $718 and $2366. They used the idea to create their own version, resulting in a beautiful (and free!) knitting pattern. It has a dress-it-up-or-dress-it-down sensibility that makes it appropriate for everything from a playroom to a contemporary living room.

Oh Yay! I was hoping to come across a free pattern for a knitted pouf. I’m sure it would take forever because handling #19 needles could be a difficult task, but I’m willing to give it a try. Thanks for this!!
If it makes you feel any better I’m a knitter who has never mastered the art of crochet and I feel like every pattern I really love is crochet! I guess the grass is always greener, but I might have to make this for my reading/knitting chair.
I made a pouf out of rag rugs inspired by this idea. I need to post it here!
I love this and would try to make it if it would not end up so covered in cat hair as to look like a giant hair ball!
