DIY Wood Mat
As a novice woodworker, I think I could handle making my own wooden plank mat like the one at How Does She? Alison made this out of wood she salvaged from her back yard, but you could just buy a bundle of stakes at your local home improvement store. I saw a mat like this at Costco for about $25 (it was bamboo), and I’m sure you could spend a lot more for a readymade wooden mat. Or a lot less, if you make your own! Use a mat like this on your front porch, inside your mud room, or even in front of your shower.

This is amazing. It looks so beautiful and it doesn’t look too hard at all. My kind of project!
this is fantastic! i can actually do this one, too! and thx for sharing the “how does she” blog, will be adding to the reader now. xoxojess
WOW thanks for the linky love! I love how you made a story board with the pictures!
There are some supertime-saving tool tips to let you get more use from belt sander that I’ve found out over the years during building with wood.
First, secure your belt sander to your bench with a c-clamp placed through the handle of the belt sander. Now you are able to use your belt sander for the following woodworking jobs:
1. If you don’t have access to your grinder or your sharpening stone, you can use the belt sander to sharpen up your dull or chipped chisels. Always remember to go very slowly and sharpen your chisel a little at a time.
2. You are able to put and edge on your drill bit too with your stationary belt sander by placing the bits against the belt between the the sander’s wheel and platform, where there is some give in the belt.
3. Don’t just trash your old sanding belts — they are pricey! Cut them up into smaller patches
