Lacy DIY Chandelier
Lace and I have a rocky relationship. I very rarely use it because it can be such a tricky thing, so easily pushed over the edge from classy to 1980s Madonna. Yet somehow, between inheriting many piles of sewing notions and spotting a few thrift store scores I just couldn’t walk away from, I have a lifetime supply of frilly trim. Since I have more lace than I can ever imagine using, I like coming across projects like this chandelier by Vanessa at College Life DIY. Using one of our favorite chandy bases (a hanging planter basket), she constructed an easy, inexpensive light fixture that perfectly highlights the intricate pattern of her lace. Her chandelier has a look that would go well in a little girl’s nursery or in a home with many antiques; for a more modern look, try using different trims for each tier.
