DIY Bird Vase – Update Your Decor in 15 Minutes
So recently I got my hands on some of the new Mod Podge product including the Podgeable shapes (by my pals Cathie and Steve). Being the Mod Podge princess that I am, and given that I had a glass vase that was desperately in need of an update to match my loft, I put the two together and made this bird vase. And I did it in about 15 minutes (without drying time).
What I love about this project is that it’s whimsical (like me), it’s a quick home decor update AND I got to “put a bird on it.” This is a great budget home decor project as well. All you need is:
- Mod Podge Gloss
- Podgeable shapes – or another shape of your choice
- Glass vase
- Craft glue
- Fabric scraps
I started the process by grabbing a few fabric scraps and adding a medium layer of Mod Podge to them (then let dry). Adding Mod Podge makes it easier for me to work with fabric and cut without fraying.
Place your shapes down onto the back of the fabric and trace. I did this with my main bird shape as well as the smaller wing shape.
I gave the Podgeable shape a good coat of Mod Podge and adhered the fabric print side down. The fabric will show through the back of the shape after the Mod Podge dries. Repeat this process with the wing.
Use craft glue to add the wing. Then use the same glue to add the bird shape to the glass vase.
Household decor updated in 15 minutes or less. These would also make great gifts – just stick flowers in your glass vase and you’re good to go. Enjoy!
