Do you have an A/C unit sticking out of the wall that only gets used for part of the year? And when it’s not in use, it seems like a big eyesore? I’ve got a great idea for you! This chalkboard A/C cover turns that eyesore into a usable surface, and makes a nice addition to any...

I need switchplates in my house. I need them everywhere, on nearly every light switch and electrical socket. See, when we moved in, we painted most of the rooms, so we took off the old, icky-looking plastic ones. After the walls were painted, I stubbornly refused to put them back up,...
Glitter Candles and Holiday Candies Get the Party ...

I am not, generally, a paper crafts kinda guy. I admire and appreciate all the amazing work people do with scrapbooking and letterpress and invites and such, but it’s just not in my bag of tricks. So when I was contacted by the good folks at ILovetoCreate to try out their Aleene’s Dry Adhesives products I decided to give it a shot as a creativity challenge. The box arrived full of a terrific array of adhesives. I mean look at all this – it’s amazing! And my first thought was “I have no idea what to do.” So much for my willingness to be challenged. However, each year I have a big holiday party and the date is looming...
Poodle Pup Keepsake Box

I have been collecting Jonathan Adler Pottery for over a decade and a half. His stuff is so awesome, but it’s pricey. I made this Poodle Pup Keepsake Box inspired by his Menagerie Collection designs, and I hope you enjoy. You too can get his look for less! Here’s how I did it. I made this with a $2.99 large retro Poodle Pup figurine and a $1.00 hardwood keepsake box! The only other supplies you’ll need are white and black flat spray paint. I cleaned up the figurine with warm soapy water and let dry. Then I lightly sanded the box. Next, I set the piece out in a well ventilated area (my backyard), and sprayed the...
Screen Printed No-Sew Throw Pillow

I love throw pillows. Love, love, love them. If I bought every one I saw that I liked, you wouldn’t be able to locate my furniture underneath a cushiony mountain. Since I own more than I ever display at once and I end up cramming the extras into storage, my solution in recent years has been that wonderful invention called the pillow cover. They take up a fraction of the space in my linen closet, and changing them is as easy as slipping on a different cover! I have some pillow covers that I bought at Dollar Tree with the intention of dressing them up. (I mean, for a buck, how can you go wrong?) When I recently had a chance...
End Table Makeover: Broken Tile Mosaic with Fall L...

The day that I bought this table, it was one of the first things I saw when I walked in the door at The Salvation Army. I immediately snatched it up and set it behind the counter with the clerk for safe keeping. I had to have it! There were a few things that drew me to it: I really needed another end table in my living room. It was $1.99. How can you not buy a table that’s only $1.99?? Most of the finish was already worn off of it. The price reflected the condition of the finish, but for me that meant less sanding. Yay! It was solid wood in good condition; a piece with a whole lot of life left in it. Here’s a...
